23 August 2015

Tehran Times: Groups of Iranian and Italian officials and diplomats from over 100 countries have been invited to the celebration, the director of Iran’s Institute for Development of Contemporary Art, Mehdi Afzali, said in a press release on Saturday.

A variety of cultural programs has been arranged for the celebration.

“As part of the programs, vocalist Salar Aqili will accompany an ensemble to perform a repertoire of traditional Iranian songs,” Afzali said.

Regional Iranian music groups are scheduled to perfprm at Expo Milano during the celebration.

The Iranian pavilion at the expo has organized a chain of various exhibitions, meetings, workshops and artistic performances that present rich Iranian-Islamic traditions and culture.

Expo Milano 2015, composed of over 60 pavilions, aims at attracting 20 million visitors during the six months of the exposition, which will end on October 31.

Talking to IRNA, while inaugurating Irans pavilion in the expo, he added that the event will provide a suitable opportunity for expanding commercial cooperation and developing Irans exports.

During the six-month event, a day coinciding with Avicenna Commemoration Day has been designed as Iran National Day.

Irans pavilion has been decorated with local designs reminiscent of Iranian handicrafts and traditional tablecloth featuring Iranian food and agriculture since ancient times.
